This week @ Ignite we continue our Summer Series “GOD in my life”

We want to give students an understanding of the character of God using our lives and experiences as an aid. We want students to understand who He is; His goodness, His forgiveness, His justice, etc. and how all these characteristics are evident in our daily walk with Him. John 17:3 says: And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Knowing God is eternal life, it brings JOY through pain, PEACE through trials, and FAITH through tribulations. We want our middle schoolers to KNOW the ONLY TRUE GOD.

Join us this summer as we share our testimonies and choose one characteristic of God that we could see displayed through our testimony. This new series also works as a way for students to get all of our leaders!

This Sunday @ Ignite

Title: ANGER-Seeing Red

  1. Discussion Questions:
When is anger harmful or dangerous? (Spiritually, socially, physically, others?)
What does the Bible say about humans being angry?
    What makes you angry? Why?
Can “we” use anger in a positive way? How?
    Why does God get angry?
How can you start to replace worldly anger with Heavenly love?

Parents read Ephesians 4:23-24, 26-27, 29-32 with your student this week.

Sunday May 15th in the Gallery @ 11A. See you there!

We’ve heard the term “No offense but…” or “don’t take offense to that…” Well the question is, why do we take offense in the first place? Usually you take something you want. You take the cookies at the buffet or waiters take your order. Do we really want offenses? NO! So don’t take them.

Instead take THAT.
take the Truth, (Isaiah 43:1)
take Heart, (John 16:33)
take the right Attitude, (Matthew 5:16)
and take TRUST (1 Peter 2:23-25)

Middle schoolers are faced with offenses every single day. Whether it be from peers, siblings, or even adults (teachers, parents) they constantly are hearing messages that have the potential to tear them down. Furthermore, middle schoolers, yes, even our very own Bethel-middle schoolers can be the ones offending others! In this message, middle schoolers are challenged to not only reflect on how they have reacted in the past to words from others but they’ll learn how to react in a Godly way from this point on.

Encourage your middle schooler to come to Ignite this Sunday @ 11a in the Gallery to learn the right way to react to every day offenses. God created us to bear and forgive one another. It’s the example Jesus gave to us while He was here on Earth and it’s what taking THAT is all about. Living by His example is a reflection of who He was. Living in this way brings GLORY to His name. Lets do just that!!

Parent challenge:

Talk about all of the above questions AND:

Throughout the week, be aware of the things that are being said to your child. How are they taking it? Are they reacting negatively and believing the offenses they are hearing? How does your child talk about others? Are they being offensive to classmates, teachers, siblings?

Encourage them daily with the verses mentioned above. Read one verse a day and discuss how these verses apply to the offenses we are given or maybe we give.
