Here’s what I have heard from Mike today…

We were at a park off 3rd and Clay. Can’t remember the name?

Kids did some power lovin’ at Nite Strike. Some even found some old friends! All our kids represented us well . It is a blessing to watch them work.

Tomorrow, we go to the Real Life Experience in the morning and have a love feast in the evening. It will be an emotional day.

Yesterday we talked to many people who are challenged in ways that we can barely grasp. Things like a clean pair of socks or a cup of coffee are greatly desired. We need to remember how blessed we are and realize how easy it can be to bless others.

The most common advice I heard was for the kids to listen to their Moms and Dads and to stay in school.

We came across this verse too,

Colossians 2:8

New International Version (NIV)

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ.

AMAZING STORIES, please read to the end!

Thanks for your prayers!

Today is Monday and we all made it. But the stories are abounding in how God moved in the final parts of our trip.

Some of you may have read that many pilots appeared to participate in a ‘sick-in’. Because of this, flights out of Haiti the 2-3 days before ours were cancelled. Over 200 extra people were at the airport HOPING to grab up 1 or 2 extra seats each day. The room with the ticket counter has limited space, and certainly not space for 200 extra people anxious to make a flight. Getting into the airport was like getting out of a rock concert with 1 door and limited crowd control. It was intense. As we look back, we see that if the sick in lasted 1 more day, we would have been 23 of those 200-300 people hoping to grab an extra seat on a plane. We could have been there an extra 10 days if that was the case! God was so gracious!

Upon arriving in Newark, we had 45 minutes to get through customs and to our next flight. We made it with 30 seconds to spare! However, the pilot, because of the sick-in, was another 45 minutes late. Again, God was gracious.

My favorite story of our return trip is when we got back to Seattle. We sent Nathan Croskey out quickly to get our cars out of the parking lot. He met us at the hotel, so he was not able to make sure we had his suitcase. We didn’t. So, after a long day of travel, at about midnight, he had to go back to the airport. He rode on a large shuttle alone with the driver. He didn’t care about anything in the bag except a machete and a creol bible. His bag was at the airport, and as he rode back he found out that the driver SPOKE CREOL AND HAD NO BIBLE! Nathan, without hesitation, handed him the Bible. It is so much fun to serve a sovereign God, isn’t it?

Thanks for your prayers!

From Seth:

Gospel clearly shared 3 times today! It was a great day, and a great way to finish off the VBS week. We cannot believe we are coming home tomorrow!

Hi All, The Wi-Fi is down, so I just got a quick text from Seth today, here is what he says…

Quick prayer. We are working with the local church to communicate the gospel twice today at VBS…pray, pray, PRAY!

Jul 28

Hello again-

John 12 reminds us that if we lift Christ up, he will bring people to himself. I am not sure all that God is doing, but I know that we are asking the Spirit to give us wisdom and strength to lift Jesus up! Keep praying in that way.

As for the haps yesterday…

Yesterday’s day at VBS was the best yet. I have been trying to work as closely with Pastor Eddy, who shepherds the church there, so that they are successful, and not us. He is very slow to warm. But yesterday he followed us on to our bus and told us how thankful he was to have us there.

The rest of the day consisted of painting and other random tasks like brake jobs and fixing broken legs. The students and leaders are doing great and we are processing things well every night.

For prayer…

9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?

10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,

11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.

We want to be rich in our Kingdom mindset. We want to finish this week strong. We want to deliver the riches of the King with faithful servant hearts! Pray to that end.

For His glory,

seth
